Paint Horses - This is our mare, "Brownie". Paint horses are always of American Paint Horse, American Quarter Horse or Thoroughbred bloodlines. They are eligible for registration in the American Paint Horse or APHA registry. All other breeds are represented in the Pinto horse association.
There are "solid bred" paint horses too. These, like our stallion "Ace" were born without enough white to be considered "colored" so are still APHA registered paint horses with the designation of solid bred at APHA events.

Pinto Horses - The photo to the left is of Pinto horses. These two happen to be Saddlebred Horses that have spots or "color" and are therefore "pinto". This registry includes all breeds of horses that have more than 4 square inches of white on the main body. White below the knees or on the face do not count toward qualifying white requirements.
PtHA- Pinto Horse Association registers many breeds of horses and have them broken out into five subcategories based on type of breed. This registry includes pony breeds, gaited breeds and draft breeds for example.
